Harry Pitt, a former School Superintendent of Montgomery County, dead

Harry Pitt, who is considered to be a careful steward of Montgomery County Public Schools during his tenure as Superintendent from 1987 to 1991, a period which ended in a painful budget cuts to education during the recession, died Dec. 3 at his home in Rockville. He was 81.

After teaching in Arlington County, Dr. Pitt joined the Montgomery County Public Schools in 1962 as an Assistant to the Chief of administrative schools and was promoted. He was the Deputy Superintendent for seven years before being appointed to top jobs that keep an eye on one of the country

By own Dr Pitt was not an innovator or reformer. He was skeptical about the trends that are suddenly bloom in the field, once told The Washington Post

His time in the school system make it a respected county insider known for achieving high schools that sent many students to the College's elite. She has raised three kids who go to school in the county, and his wife is a school library media specialists Montgomery.
